First Date Creativity
A first date can be the most nerve racking date of the entire relationship. Two people, who are probably at most acquaintances, go out for the evening with the intention of really getting to know each other. Butterflies, sweaty palms, nervous tendencies. People can forget about being nervous, and just enjoy themselves on their first date. Here are some ideas for some low stress first dates.
Pick something that both people are horrible at. (This requires a little background work, but it will totally pay off.) Something like frisbee golf, or bowling. Plan that whoever loses is actually the winner. Then have a good laugh as both people try to be even worse than they already are. Or go to a golf range, and instead of trying to see who can hit the balls farther, have a contest to see who can hit all the balls in the “practice bucket” the quickest. Who ever is done first wins. Go to ice cream or coffee as the prize.
Another idea is to do something requiring a little bit of vulnerability, and a good humor. Borrow a Polaroid camera, and go to a thrift store. Each person has five minutes to pick out clothes for the other person to wear. Skip the cloths they would actually wear in real life. Also, asking a girl what her size is on a first date is not a good idea. Play it safe, and go for an assortment of random clothes that seem like they would work. Then, model whatever clothes fit well enough for the thrift store runway. The more ridiculous the better.
Take pictures of the top three outfits that each person tries on. Have a store employee take a few pictures of both models together, a great way to remember a crazy first date. This is a great idea for most couples, although if either person is extremely insecure about their body, this might not be as fun and as silly as it is intended to be.
Although an actual sleepover isn’t a great idea for a first date, a sleepover themed night in is a fun way to get to know a person. Get a bunch of different kinds of candy. Candy that is reminiscent of childhood memories. Order pizza, and make some margaritas. Watch some funny old-school movies. Movies that haven’t been seen in years. Eat junk food, and have a good laugh at movies for a few hours. Then when the movies are over, do something crazy, like toilet papering a mutual friends house, (one that won’t be too mad), or putting sticky notes all over your neighbor’s car, (not the neighbor with the shotgun and the watch dog). Finnish the night off with coffee at an all night diner, so the great date is ended in a fun, no pressure way.
Finally, always go on a second date. Just because a first date may be a little awkward, doesn’t mean there isn’t a true connection. Good Luck!
